Paper animation guide
Create a Paper Cutout Animation Online
This free paper animation maker turns a photo into a movable digital cutout. It combines background removal, torn-paper styling, tactile texture, stop-motion-inspired movement, social canvas presets, and HD export in one responsive browser editor. Your photo is processed on your device, so you can start without creating an account or sending the image to our server.
1. Upload and isolate the subject
Drag a JPG, PNG, or WebP onto the editor, paste an image from your clipboard, or use the upload button. Click the person, pet, product, or object you want to keep. The image segmenter creates a transparent subject layer; edge softness helps blend small details such as hair or fabric before you place it on the canvas.
Clear silhouettes and good contrast usually give the cleanest first selection. If you only need the isolated image, the dedicated image background remover exports a transparent PNG without the animation controls.
2. Build the paper cutout effect
Increase the border for a bold sticker or magazine-cutout look, then raise roughness for an irregular torn edge. Adjust the edge colour and shadow direction to make the subject feel like a physical piece resting above the background. Grain adds subtle fibres, newsprint adds a printed halftone feel, and kraft creates a warmer recycled-paper finish.
The Torn Sticker, Stop Motion, Soft Cutout, and Vintage Kraft presets are useful starting points. Every preset remains editable, so you can change size, position, rotation, texture, edge, and shadow after applying it.
3. Choose a paper animation style
Paper boil adds a continuous handmade wiggle. Stop motion changes position in visible steps for a choppier frame-by-frame character. Float creates slow vertical movement, while bounce adds a playful cutout jump. Use the intensity and speed controls to keep motion subtle for a documentary collage or push it harder for a music video and social post.
Select Story for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts; Portrait for feed posts; Square for profile and carousel graphics; or Video for a 16:9 composition. Drag the subject into place and use Center whenever you want to reset the layout. The canvas preview updates to match the chosen ratio.
Export a PNG frame when you need a sticker, thumbnail, or transparent design layer. For movement, choose a duration, 24/30/60 FPS, and 720p or 1080p output. Transparent animation uses WebM when supported. A solid background is more broadly compatible, while green screen works well for chroma key workflows in CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and After Effects.

When to Use an Online Paper Animator
Use this editor when you want the handmade character of cut paper without manually tracing masks and assembling keyframes. It is especially effective for talking-head cutaways, product highlights, title sequences, reaction stickers, music visuals, explainer scenes, scrapbook stories, thumbnails, and poster art. The result can be the finished asset or one transparent layer inside a longer video project.
A full timeline editor is still the right choice for multi-scene cutting, audio mixing, advanced compositing, and precise keyframes. This tool focuses on making the paper-styled subject quickly, with enough motion and format control to avoid rebuilding the effect from scratch. Pair the visual with the magazine cutout text generator for a consistent collage design.
